Roland is a dedicated orchestral and chamber community musician involved in both performance and the administration of music. He is currently Principal Bassoon of North York Concert Orchestra and Assistant Principal Bassoon of Hart House Orchestra, and freelances with other community orchestras in the Greater Toronto Area. He has been a member since inception of the World Civic Orchestra which has given numerous concerts in New York and will be following up on its 2014 tour to Taiwan and Japan with a tour in June 2017 to Prague. Roland also plays French horn and clarinet in chamber music and orchestra. He is currently on the Boards of Toronto Youth Wind Orchestra, North York Concert Orchestra, CAMMAC Foundation and the Executive Committee of the Home Music Club of Toronto. He shares his passion for music with his wife, Marion, a pianist, percussionist and administrator. Fascinated by cheese, Roland learned how to make it and now gives courses on cheese-making – sometimes designing the course around a chamber music jam session for cheese-loving musicians!!
